After AEW’s executive vice president Cody Rhodes celebrated Batman Day by confirming that the Dark Knight is #AllElite, it seems the new wrestling promotion is extending that alliance to all of DC Comics, now that Chris Jericho himself has been immortalized in comic book form as Le Champion.
Yes, All Elite Wrestling has launched an official partnership with DC Comics, taking to their social media teasing a number of reveals as they enter the week of the very first AEW Dynamite on TNT, a subsidiary of Warner Media alongside DC Entertainment. Is it the first sign that more of AEW’s stars or products could be coming to DC Comics? Fans may not have to wait long to find out, as the same announcement also promised further collaborations through ‘Supervillain Weekend’ starting Friday, September 27th.
Fans will have to speculate and imagine what AEW has cooked up ahead of its Wednesday night debut of Dynamite, but one wrestling icon has already been revealed to have gotten a DC hero treatment. AEW shared the artwork of AEW World Champion Chris Jericho (he’s from Winnipeg you idiot!) drawn by The Flash and Justice League artist Howard Porter on both Instagram and Twitter, confirming there is simply no stopping a man of his caliber:
DC fans may assume that it’s a comic book partnership being teased, bringing AEW’s characters into a new medium already. And while that would undoubtedly be a wise chance for DC Comics to take, and WWE stars have been a part of BOOM! Studios for years, fans may not want to get their hopes up just yet. Still, there may be reason to believe DC is testing the waters with the AEW brand, given how quickly excitement and fan support has surrounded the new promotion, openly positioned as an alternative to the WWE. Promoting better pay, better schedules, and better storylines embracing creativity, originality, and diversity in the face of Vince McMahon’s wrestling monopoly, AEW exists as a result of risks being taken.

AEW already has a working relationship with DC’s parent company, as AEW and Warner Media have partnered to produce a two-hour, weekly show on TNT starting October 2nd. Recently confirmed to be titled ‘AEW Dynamite,’ and a historic day is approaching, with that show’s premiere opening to a sold-out crowd at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.. Here’s hoping that Howard Porter and DC’s talent will only add to the momentum, before Rhodes himself takes on Chris Jericho for the AEW World Championship during the Full Gear pay-per-view event in Baltimore on November 9th, 2019.
